When looking at the European map you see that Germany is already pretty big. During World War I they lost land because they were blamed for the war, but then Hitler decides with the Nazi-Soviet Pact that he is going to expand the land of Germany, but why?

Why did Hitler want to Expand Territory?
Of what i have read in website number one, it explains how the start of the German take over began. In the end Germany had actually taken over most of Europe. Hitler did this by first, "The German armed forces engaged in secret rearmament even before the Nazi takeover of power." Which was, " in open violation of the Treaty of Versailles." (Website 1). A question might come up as to how Germany took over as much territory as they did. According to the site, "Hitler announced the expansion of the German army to more than 500,000 men." (Website 1) Hitler built up his army and got ready to take over Europe with the secret agreement with the Soviet Union, to occupy Poland. Hitler not only built his army to be large, but inside Austria he advertised using propaganda so that eventually it wont be as hard to take over because Austria would for the most part be on Germany's side. "After a prolonged period of intense propaganda inside Austria, Germany troops entered the country on March 12, 1938, receiving the enthusiastic support of most of the population." (Website 1). With Germany supporting the idea of take over and not advertising the total truth Austria was supportive when Germany came over. Therefore the German takeover of Austria was not as hard as it would have been and Hitler expanded his land for more territory.

In Website number two it shows and explains the expansion of German territories throughout Europe. It has a picture slide show of the order of what was taken in what order by who and down below has a description of whats happening. "Under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, after its defeat in the First World War, Germany lost land in Europe as well as it's colonies in Africa" (Website 2). As Germany's first step to gaining more land Hitler decided to take over Austria, being his home, and The Sudetenland, "On 13 March 1938, Hitler's army occupied Austria (Anschluss). This led to instant persecution..." (Website 2). Some may say that this was the start of the Holocaust because when Germany took over many of the Jews fled but were later killed in the places that the went to because they were also later taken over by the Germans. The next countries that were taken over by the Germans after Austria and the Sudetenland was Czechoslovakia, Poland, which played a big part in the Holocaust, Northern France, Denmark, Western Soviet Union, and then lastly Italy.
In website number three, they go through and talk about Germany expansion between 1935 to 1939. "The process started in 1935, when residents of the Saar region, which had been ruled under a mandate by the League of Nations since the Versailles Treaty, decided to join Germany after holding a popular referendum."
